Third Honoring
16" x 20" / acrylic on canvas / sold
Messages carried on the wind of winged messengers. When I am out walking on the Great Mystery’s canvas, I am frequently fortunate to discover a message that has been left for me to find along my way. I believe that the feathers that I find have been placed in my path to remind me that I am not alone and that communion with all that is, happens through consciously striving to be aware and awake. All life is sacred and can be experienced as such when one becomes aware that we, as humans, are not separate from the landscape that surrounds us. We are part of the landscape. Inextricably linked in a beautiful and delicate balance.
“Third Honoring” was inspired through communion with nature and the original vision of Assiniboine photographer and writer Ken Blackbird’s photo entitled, “Eagle Staff”. The title implies the three layers of “Story” that were necessary to bring this painting into the world: the honoring/ceremony that was occurred during the ceremony, the honoring of Blackbird’s vision, and my attempt to honor the origins of the inspiration.
