A life that once was
represented in carved and marked stone.
Now with edges 
    covered in moss and pieces chipped away
        weathered by the passing of time and storms.
And in this plot
    that is your body’s final resting place
        do you know your neighbors name
            and were you part of their life lived
                in this place that I have come to call home?
Do the efforts of your life
    your achievements, sorrows, mistakes and joys
        do they live on in your descendants
            and in stories told around kitchen tables and campfires?
And are you now
    the fertile soil
        in which generations to come
            can be planted
                take seed
                    and grow?
