the Raven
36" x 24" / acrylic paint on canvas / sold
An Iroquois man once told me that if you look into the eyes of the raven, you would experience the past, present, and future simultaneously. Beauties born the color of the womb of creation. Midnight black swirling into the deepest of mysterious purples and glimmers of cerulean blues. You are reminders of the magic that still exists in our world. In times of long ago and far away you were a symbol of alchemy. You were and are nigredo. The initial state of substance, unformed but full of potential. You are the keeper of secrets and the knower of truths.
When I enter into nature you are always there to greet me. Sentinel posted on the borders of the realms, reminding me of the truth and magic that beats in rhythm with the Mother's heart and within our own. You and I have shared a dance throughout time immeasurable. I am honored that you are my teacher and call me friend, and I am grateful for your existence. You told me to paint you so that others might see and come to know you. A request happily granted to honor a cherished and valued alliance.
