28" x 22" / acrylic on canvas / 2006 / $400
Sometimes when a soul enters this world, they bring with them an almost tangible amount of the mystery of creation. As they have recently left the source, it clings to them and can be felt and seen through their eyes and the glow that extends around their bodies. This painting began as a desire to honor the strength and vital life force that shines in the eyes and beats within the heart of such individuals: a desire to honor their decision to enter this world to fulfill their purpose.
Delicate and fragile bubbles accompany them on their journey. A reminder to those entrusted with their care. There lies a great responsibility in the acknowledgment that everyone serves a purpose greater than their own desires. When one is young and so very small, those entrusted with his/her care must remember to nurture the sacredness of the spirit’s journey, so when the spirit begins to actively search for its purpose, it will recognize and acknowledge the signs and messages that have been left along the path. Every living being walks along the strands of the web, following their own path. Our paths and journeys are connected and meet at the crossing points of the web and in the spaces in-between. How one chooses to place their feet on the strands ultimately affects the reality of all creatures great and small. We must teach our children well and be role models, for how we walk today is how they will learn to walk tomorrow.
